BYK’s stimulation additives can be used to increase hydrocarbon recovery and productivity of the producing well. The use of these additives assist in:
- Stabilization of the guar slurry in oil
- Thickening/gelling of acids
- Optimizing the placement of the proppant into the formation
CLAYTONE-SF and CLAYTONE-ER are both rheological modifier suitable for use in mineral oil and synthetic oil. The products are highly efficient suspending agents for guar slurries and other polymers. The additive are creating a thixotropic flow behavior and avoid the settling of the guar powder in the oil. The shear thinning behavior is beneficial for an easy to pump guar slurry.
The products are working independently from the type of organic polymer. It is also possible to stabilize slurries based on CMC or xanthan gum powder in oil.
BYK-7420 ES can thicken many different kind of acids and create a thixotropic medium. As soon as the system is mixed up, the structure breaks down and a low application viscosity is achieved which helps to make pumping the mixture downhole much easier.
BYK-7420 ES is a modified urea chemistry in liquid delivery form for many kind of aqueous systems. When added into water, it will create a shear thinning flow behavior and significantly improve anti-settling properties. In addition, the product will provide a stable rheology effect in fresh water, sea water, various salt solutions (e.g. 25% CaCl2 brine), different kind of acids, high & low pH.

BYK-7420 ES can also be used in slickwater applications to improve the proppant suspension and downhole transportation. It works as well in combination with KCl or CaCl2 and friction reducer and modifies the aqueous medium to help keep the proppants suspended yet allowing the solution to be easily pumped downhole.
