Interfacial chemistry a technological challenge

As an inhomogeneous raw material, paper is unique in certain ways: The porosity of the fiber network and the capillaries of the fibers produce a highly dynamic behavior in the wetting and penetration of liquids. The interface chemistry between the phases is the core business at BYK. And we successfully apply this specific know-how to paper surface finishing.

Regulation of penetration speed in milliseconds can be beneficial for predictions for paper processing. Wetting of the surface greatly controls processes such as printability, gluability, and lamination of paper.
