Rheology Additives: Improving storage stability - Solvent-borne/ solvent-free systems - Liquid additives



Depending on the viscosity profile (pseudoplastic or thixotropic), liquid rheology additives are made up of modified urea or urea-modified polyamides, which are dissolved in a solvent. If this thickener is added to the system, the active substance precipitates out as small needle-shaped crystals that then form hydrogen bonds to create a three-dimensional network and hence influence viscosity. Advantages of liquid rheology additives are the precise and easy incorporation, which can also take place after the production of a system (post-addition).
