Wetting and dispersing additives for color masterbatches
BYK wetting and dispersing additives for color masterbatches – high pigment loading and easy incorporation of organic pigments
Dispersion is one of the most important – and also most problematic – process steps in the manufacture of color masterbatches.
When manufacturing complicated, highly loaded color masterbatches in particular, manufacturers are forced to use additives such as waxes or fatty acid derivatives in order to achieve a good distribution of the pigments in the carrier polymer. Depending on the pigment used, however, the result of the dispersing process is not always satisfactory. Sometimes it is also necessary to use additional processing aids, which, although they facilitate processing, can cause undesirable effects such as migration, deposition in the mold, or degradation of printability.
The addition of wetting and dispersing additives from BYK can be used to simplify the integration of organic pigments and achieve higher quality in the end product.
