Wire-wound rods

Wire-woun­drods, 200 mm film width

Each rod has a 12 mm diam­e­ter with a 200 mm film width. There is a 20 mm space on both ends to grip the rod. The rods can be attached to a holder to secure the rod dur­ing a draw­down. An adapter is also avai­l­able to attach the wire-wound rods to the PA-2101 Auto­matic Film Appli­ca­tor.

Each rod is 1/2 inch in diam­e­ter and 12 inches in length, allow­ing 1 inch at either end to grip. The approx­i­mate wet film thick­ness that will result after a coat­ing passes through the grooves between the wires and then lev­els off to a uni­form thick­ness has been com­puted for each diam­e­ter of wire and is shown in the table below.

A com­plete set of wire-wound rods pro­vides 12 dif­fer­ent wet film thick­nesses of 4 mils or less; 7 of these being 1 mil or less. The 10 inches width of appli­ca­tion is greater than many other appli­ca­tors.
