The BYK-Gard­ner cup­ping tester has been designed for deter­min­ing the elon­ga­tion and deforma­bil­ity of sin­gle- and mul­ti­ple-layer sys­tems on metal sub­s­trates.

Stereo Micro­s­cope for cup­ping tester

This stereo micro­s­cope with illu­mi­na­tion and bright­ness con­trol is designed to observe the paint sur­face dur­ing the test.

Pro­ce­dure
– Insert the test panel into the C-open­ing of the instru­ment
– Clamp in the sam­ple firmly
– Start cup­ping and simul­ta­ne­ously observe the pro­cess through the stereo-micro­s­cope
– Appara­tus presses the cap of the spher­i­cal punch into the test panel at a uni­form speed (0.2 mm/s)
– As soon as the first crack­ing is vis­i­ble, stop the move­ment of the punch
– Read the cup­ping depth on the dig­i­tal dis­play and reset the punch
– Always carry out 3 tests for each sam­ple
