BYK-Gardner - worldwide partner of the automotive, paint and plastic industries for quality control of color, appearance and physical properties - is introducing a new   oven temperature recorder for objective control and optimization of the curing process: the temp-gard.

In order to cure coated objects industrial baking ovens are used. The temp-gard is a specially developed oven recorder for feed ovens. It measures and saves object and air temperature during the curing process. The temp-gard data logger accompanies the object on its way through the oven, protected by a thermal barrier and without the need of a trailing cable. The temp-gard data logger comes in two configurations, 12 temperature probe connections or 6 probe connections. For the various substrates, different thermo-elements of  type „K“ are available. Due to the large color LCD display the measurement data can be monitored directly on the logger.  A flash drive interface ensures quick and easy data transfer to the PC for in field or in plant location. The included temp-chart software documents and analyses the measured data providing the following advantages:

Setting of measurement parameter
So-called Organizers are used to define the measurement procedure and ensure that measurements are always done under the same conditions . Furthermore, QC-Procedures can be assigned to the organizer for automatic  data analysis  after  data transfer.

Analysis of the baking process
The optimal curing conditions, determined by the paint manufacturer, can be saved and used to analyze the temperature curve as well as to calculate the curing index. The new  Cure Chart offers a visual aide to quickly determine which temperature sensors  have met the cure conditions

The temperature limits as well as the position in the Cure Chart can be used for  Pass/Fail analysis to show  at a glance whether the baking process  was operated within the acceptable  tolerance range. The possibility to display multiple temperature profiles allows assessing process stability over several days.
