12.12.2011 - DISPERBYK®-2151

DISPERBYK®-2151 is a hyperbranched wetting and dispersing additive for controlled action in epoxy and other reactive systems. Due to the special hyperbranched structure of DISPERBYK®-2151 the aminic pigment-affinic groups are encapsulated by polyester side chains and only come into operation when shear force is exerted; this provides no reaction with the epoxy resin, and, as a result, long-term storage stability at user-friendly viscosity levels is achieved.

 

31.10.2011 - CERAFLOUR® 1000

CERAFLOUR® 1000 is a biodegradable polymer based on renewable resources. The additive shows wax like properties by improving the matting efficiency and the haptic (soft-touch) of the system.
The transparency remains at a high level and surface properties are improved.
CERAFLOUR® 1000 can be used for aqueous, solvent-free, rad-cure and solvent-borne systems.

11.10.2011 - AQUACER® D 272

AQUACER® D 272 is an aqueous wax-based performance additive to improve paper surfaces. Matted papers often display gloss mottling from abrasion or rubbing during transport and handling in the processing equipment. The additive can be used to reduce this problem. AQUACER® D 272 contains a high amount of non-volatile matter.

25.08.2011 - NANOBYK®-3605

NANOBYK®-3605 is an innovative solution for solvent-borne and solvent-free radiation-curing systems used for applications such as wood parquet floorings, mobile phones or laptops to protect their surfaces against scratches and abrasion.
The additive contains stabilized silica nanoparticles, which, thanks to their surface treatment, crosslink into the resin matrix and facilitate homogeneous distribution in the cured film.
NANOBYK®-3605 shows no negative influence with regard to transparency, gloss or haze.

11.08.2011 - BYK®-4511

BYK®-4511 is the additive especially designed to improve the adhesion of epoxy systems to several metal substrates, such as sandblasted steel, cold-rolled steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, and also on glass. It enhances the surface tolerance when, for example, the paint is applied to oily or rusty surfaces.
BYK®-4511 boosts the overall performance of multi-layer systems and increases the flexibility of the paint film. The improved anticorrosive properties of the coating are also a benefit.

02.08.2011 - BYK®-1711
New silicone- and mineral oil-free polymeric defoamer for water-borne coatings

BYK®-1711 is recommended for applications in which silicone- and mineral oil-free defoamers are preferred. It is an excellent addition to BYK´s polymeric defoamer range for water-borne coatings.
BYK®-1711 is a perfectly balanced product: it is very efficient at low dosage levels but still fairly compatible, and requires only low to medium shear forces for incorporation.
We recommend its usage in general industrial, automotive, and wood and furniture applications.

15.07.2011 - BYK®-SYNERGIST 2102

BYK®-SYNERGIST 2102 is tailored to the needs of polar systems, phthalocyanine blue and green and carbon black pigments. It improves color strength and transparency, increases the gloss and reduces the viscosity significantly.

15.07.2011 - DISPERBYK®-2117 and DISPERBYK®-2118

DISPERBYK®-2117 and DISPERBYK®-2118 consist of 100% active substance (solvent-free) but provide a remarkably low viscosity. Whereas DISPERBYK®-2117 is recommended for polar or medium polar systems, DISPERBYK®-2118 is the right choice for systems of a lower or no polarity. Both are especially suitable for carbon blacks and phthalo pigments and improve the jetness, color strength and transparency. As they reduce the viscosity they are highly recommended for usage in pigment concentrates and printing inks but they are also suitable for automotive or general industrial coatings.

28.06.2011 - AQUAMAT® 272

AQUAMAT® 272 is a wax dispersion on the basis of modified polyethylene for aqueous systems. It improves the scratch-resistance and abrasion-resistance, and has a matting effect. AQUAMAT® 272 is also suitable for leather coatings to adjust matting. It has a high solids content.

28.06.2011 - CERAFLOUR® 929

CERAFLOUR® 929 is a micronized wax on the basis of a modified PE for aqueous and solvent-borne architectural, wood and furniture, industrial and leather coatings to improve scratch resistance, abrasion-resistance, and matting. CERAFLOUR® 929 can be used for specified food contact applications according to EU/FDA regulations.

26.05.2011 - BYKJET® family

Outstanding wetting and stabilization of all commonly used pigments is a key requirement for inkjet inks to guarantee high color strength, high gloss and transparency, as well as low haze.
Excellent pigment deflocculation will also lead to strong viscosity reduction of the pigment concentrates and the final inks. Both the concentrates and the inks also need to have long-term storage stability without viscosity shift.

For inkjet inks a very low particle size of the pigments and a narrow particle size distribution is of utmost importance. Coarse particles will have a negative impact on the filterability of the inks, and, in general, on their processability and application performance.

The high quality wetting and dispersing additives of the BYKJET® product family are specifically designed to fulfill all these requirements. Additives are available for solvent-borne, aqueous and solvent-free UV-curable formulations:

18.04.2011 - BYK®-C 8002

BYK®-C 8002 is a polymeric coupling agent that enhances mechanical properties such as the flexural, tensile, compressive and impact strength of ATH-filled acrylic resins. BYK®-C 8002 strengthens the interface between filler and resin by forming strong chemical bonds, resulting in a remarkable improvement of the mechanical properties.
It has no negative impact on hot water and weather resistance and, depending on the system and usage, BYK®-C 8002 also improves the anti-settling properties of the ATH (aluminum trihydroxide) in the acrylic resin (PMMA in MMA).

07.04.2011 - BYK®-399

To improve the flow and leveling of a wide variety of coatings, the market has established different additive chemistries with a diverse performance profile.

Many systems require good leveling, surface tension reduction and the usage of a fluorine-free additive. BYK®-399 is a 100% active-substance, polymeric additive for solvent-borne coatings that is effective at low dosages and shows a convincing, well-balanced performance in terms of leveling, surface tension reduction and absence of fluorines.

29.03.2011 - BYK®-3933 P

Good leveling is a “must” for every powder coating. Consequently, there is a wide variety of standard leveling additives available. However, there are different coating problems and performance profiles that can´t be served by the usual products. Contrary to the standard leveling additives, the new BYK®-3933 P is multifunctional. It not only ensures good leveling and anti-cratering effects, but it also creates a high, unspoiled transparency with minimized haze in powder clearcoats. It provides sound wetting and easy coatability, which is especially important for powder coatings that are basecoats or those that are recoated with liquid coatings, and it prevents fogging effects caused by evaporation or humidity.

Phase separation is a serious problem that affects polyol systems containing chain extenders. To date, customers had to prevent the separation by continuous mixing and / or by adding the components shortly before usage, for example right on the construction site. But now they have the chance to ease the handling of their polyol blends – by using the new T.A.P.E. additives BYK®-P 9908 and BYK®-P 9909! These additives based on an innovative technology – T.A.P.E. stands for “Twin Amphiphilic Polymeric Emulsifier” – improve the emulsion stability and provide the opportunity to economize the production of the blends by transferring one on-site processing step to the systems houses.

Silicone-free polymeric defoamer with anti-popping properties

BYK®-015 is a silicone-free defoamer for water-borne coatings with good anti-popping properties. The additive can be used for all coating layers (clear coats, primer surfacers, basecoats and top-coats) and is suitable for 1-pack/2-pack air and fast drying coatings.
