Rheology Additives: Increasing viscosity



Rheology additives are generally suitable for increasing system viscosity – and thereby for improving storage stability, processability and achieving greater film thicknesses. With respect to the intended use, it is therefore critical which type of rheology additive (pseudoplastic/thixotropic) is used to increase viscosity and at which dosage the optimum effect is achieved. In addition to traditional rheology additives, controlled flocculating wetting and dispersing additives or thixotropy enhancers for pyrogenic fumed silica are also suitable for increasing viscosity.
