K-REACH – Korean REACH

The “Act on Registration and Evaluation of Chemical Substances”, also known as K-REACH, came into force on January 1, 2015. K-REACH makes it mandatory for manufacturers and importers of chemical substances to submit information for hazard screening and risk assessment of chemical substances distributed in Korea. Substances subject to registration, notification or exemption are classified according to whether a chemical substance is a new chemical substance or an existing chemical substance, and the amount of manufacturing imports.

According to K-REACH, all new chemical substances manufactured or imported (substances not listed on the Korean Existing Chemicals List) and existing chemical substances of 1 ton or more per year must be registered, notified, or exempted. In the case of existing chemical substances of 1 ton or more, (late) pre-registration is required to receive the grace period.

Therefore, BYK Korea LLC. has been appointed as Only Representative (OR) of all overseas manufacturing sites of BYK to act as their OR and fulfills the requirements such as:

  • the (late) pre-registration for BYK products imported to Korea for existing chemicals;
  • existing and new chemical substance registration, notification, and exemption;
  • importer addition for the approval registration, notification, and exemption.

If you want to participate in our OR Service, please have a look in the official letter, to see what information are needed from your side.

Our goal is to enable you to start or continue importation of our BYK products with less effort on your side while at the same time ensuring that you are fully compliant with your obligations under K-REACH.
