Wesel, October 10, 2025 – BYK Additives is sticking to its sustainability commitments and will present innovative additives for Home Care, Industrial & Institutional (I&I), and Personal Care at Sepawa 2025 in Berlin next week. BYK Additives improve flow behavior, product stability and surface properties in a wide variety of care applications, perfectly stabilizing the ingredients. Developing PFAS-free and bio-based products is a top priority at BYK.
Home Care and I&I
The sustainable wax additive AQUACER 492 enables water-repellent textile finishing without the use of PFAS and silicones. It is similar to the hydrophobic properties of a lotus leaf, an example from nature. BYK has replicated the functionality of plant waxes in a form that can reliably be transferred to textiles, effectively repelling water without sealing the fabric or compromising its breathability, feel, or flexibility. AQUACER 492 is easy to use and can be integrated into all types of application systems without the need for complex equipment.
Personal Care
PURABYK-W 5560 BOOST is a micronized rapeseed-based wax powder that offers many benefits for cosmetic formulations. It creates a soft focus effect that minimizes wrinkles and minor imperfections. It also improves water resistance and increases the sun protection factor (SPF), making it ideal for sunscreens and decorative cosmetics. The powder optimizes formulation texture, giving products a smooth and creamy consistency. At the same time, it impresses with its excellent oil-binding and mattifying properties. It is vegan and meets the standards for natural cosmetics (COSMOS, NATRUE). Thanks to its versatile properties, PURABYK-W 5560 BOOST is an excellent choice for modern skincare products, sunscreens, and makeup formulations.
