Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)

Palm oil, palm kernel oil and their respective derivatives are raw materials for personal and home care ingredients. However, the topic of palm oil, palm kernel oil and their derivatives goes hand in hand with risks within the supply chain, which are associated with environmental protection and human rights.

In this context, the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) develops and implements global standards for the production and procurement of sustainable palm oil. The Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil is a global, non-profit organization and was formed in 2004. Today, the RSPO organisation represents over 5000 members from the 7 sectors of the global palm oil industry: palm oil producers, processors and traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks and investors, as well as environmental and social non-governmental organizations.

BYK uses small quantities of palm oil or palm kernel oil and their respective derivatives as raw materials to produce ingredients for personal care applications. Therefore, BYK joined the RSPO to support the vision of “making sustainable palm oil the norm”. As a RSPO member, BYK supports the Principles, Criteria and Standards of RSPO including the Shared Responsibilities (SR) requirements. BYK has implemented the Shared Responsibilities (RS) requirements into its palm oil related activities.

BYK’s location in Gonzales, TX, United States, has been RSPO certified since 2023. You will find the respective certificate here.
