28.11.2016 - BYK-1788

BYK-1788 - VOC-free and Silicone-free Polymer Defoamer for Solvent-borne, High-solid and Solvent-free Systems. Particularly Suitable for 100 % UV Systems

100 % systems and particularly UV-curing coatings are difficult to defoam as a result of their high processing viscosity and lack of solvent. However, their economic and environmental friendly formulation makes them popular for use in wood, furniture, leather, and general industrial coatings as well as thermoset applications. Along with high effectiveness, clear systems in particular require good defoamer compatibility to guarantee excellent transparency and high gloss. The well-balanced interaction of effectiveness and compatibility makes the new additive BYK-1788 particularly suitable for non-pigmented systems. BYK-1788 is silicone- and VOC-free and does not introduce any solvents to the formulation. However, in solvent-borne coating systems and those with high solids, BYK-1788 demonstrates its full spectrum of performance.

28.11.2016 - BYK-1799

BYK-1799 -  VOC-free Silicone-containing Defoamer for Solvent-borne, High-solid and Solvent-free Systems. Particularly Suitable for 100 % UV Systems

100 % UV systems generally display a higher processing viscosity as a result of a lack of solvents. If the formulation also contains matting agents and pigments, defoaming becomes difficult. For example, to be effective at high application speeds such as during roller application, it is necessary to have a spontaneous and highly effective defoamer. The new BYK-1799 has these properties and is effective even at an extremely low dosage. Adding BYK-1799 also effectively prevents both micro- and macrofoam. The main fields of application are UV wood and furniture coatings, and UV printing inks. However, it also perfectly defoams solvent-borne and high solid systems.

24.10.2016 - AQUACER 1013 and AQUACER 1039

AQUACER 1013 and AQUACER 1039 - Ecolabel-Compliant Wax Additives for Aqueous Coatings

As a reaction to the revision of different European ecolabels and to the reclassification of certain chemicals as well as tighter limit values for using chemicals that are classified as hazardous substances, BYK is developing additives that comply with the recent standards and can be used without any restrictions. This meets the users´ requirements for easy adaption of their current formulations to the latest safety and environmental directives. AQUACER 1013 is a HDPE-based wax emulsion for improving the surface protection in aqueous coatings and printing inks as well as in aqueous care products and polishes. The wax emulsion AQUACER 1039 is of paraffinic nature and improves the surface characteristics of aqueous coatings and printing inks.

25.07.2016 - DISPERBYK-2205

DISPERBYK-2205 - Solid wetting and dispersing additive for a multitude of solvent-borne applications and UV printing inks

DISPERBYK-2205 is an extension to BYK’s product family of solid and very effective wetting and dispersing additives. As a result of the optimal molecular weight distribution the additive is highly compatible in a variety of systems; the reduced amine value leads to an almost neutral character and enables it to be used in acid catalyzed systems. DISPERBYK-2205 offers a low handling viscosity and a perfect pigment stabilization combined with a high gloss and low haze in industrial, coil, automotive, wood and furniture coatings. In printing ink applications it can also be used for medium-polarity systems and even UV systems.

06.07.2016 - BYK-326

BYK-326 - High-solid, moderately active surface additive for improving the leveling of solvent-borne, solvent-free and aqueous systems

If the broadest possible compatibility is required, for instance to also be compatible with aqueous systems, it would be preferable to use a medium-polarity additive. The new BYK-326 provides a balanced profile and ideally completes the BYK range with regard to universal application in all systems. It has medium polarity and displays moderate activity in reducing surface tension, which produces excellent leveling results.

02.06.2016 - CERAFLOUR 927

CERAFLOUR 927 – Micronized, modified wax additive for improved mechanical properties in aqueous systems

Wax additives are added to coatings to provide them with a matt appearance and to improve their mechanical properties (primarily scratch and abrasion resistance) and their resistance to water or chemicals. As a result of their chemical composition, the majority of powdered wax additives require an increased dispersion effort to achieve optimum effectiveness when incorporated into aqueous systems, particularly if no organic co-solvents are added. CERAFLOUR 927 has been developed specifically for use in aqueous systems and is characterized by being easy to incorporate. The wax distributes well in the coating system even without the addition of co-solvents and remains well distributed which results in excellent storage stability. CERAFLOUR 927 is formaldehyde-free and can be post-added.

30.05.2016 - BYK-W 908

BYK-W 908 - Wetting and dispersing additive to reduce the viscosity in highly filled UP casting resin systems
Only available in Europe.

BYK-W 908 is a wetting and dispersing additive with properties that greatly reduce viscosity. It is therefore particularly recommended for highly filled UP casting resin systems. BYK-W 908 improves the flow behavior and the leveling of the resin mixture of casting resin systems such as polymer concrete, artificial marble, or onyx, without impacting the curing or color. In contrast to BYK-W 909, BYK-W 908 is listed under REACH and therefore the direct alternative.

25.04.2016 - AQUACER 530

AQUACER 530 is a HDPE wax emulsion for printing inks, overprint varnishes, inkjet inks and wood coatings The additive improves rub respectively scratch resistance and provides a higher surface slip.

AQUACER 530 is mainly recommended for over print varnishes on absorbing substrates. In inkjet inks AQUACER 530 has no influence on viscosity, gloss and filterability.

15.02.2016 - BYK-C 8003

BYK-C 8003 - Reactive polymeric coupling agent for improving the mechanical properties of glass fiber reinforced, radical curing systems based on unsaturated vinylester and polyester resins

BYK-C 8003 has been developed specifically for use in radical curing, glass fiber reinforced unsaturated vinylester and polyester resin systems. The additive improves the mechanical properties of the component through increased fiber-matrix bonding. The level of the improvement depends on the choice of the glass fiber and resin system.

BYK-C 8003 guarantees a constantly high quality of the finished part with no influence on water absorption, glass transition temperature, etc..

The additive is liquid and therefore easy to incorporate.

01.02.2016 - BYK-SILCLEAN 3701

BYK-SILCLEAN 3701 - Silicone-containing Surface Additive for Epoxy Systems for Long-term Improved Cleanability (Easy-to-Clean Effect)

The use of epoxy resin systems as top coats using cycloaliphatic hardeners has increased in recent years. BYK has developed a silicone-containing surface additive for storage room, tanks, tunnel or container coatings specifically to improve cleanability.

BYK-SILCLEAN 3701 achieves a permanent effect as it reacts in the polymer matrix. The additive has no influence on the adhesion of the top coat to the substrate and consequently does not have a negative effect on the anti-corrosion properties. A further advantage is also the improvement of leveling and surface slip, as well as the lack of foam stabilization.

BYK-SILCLEAN 3701 is equally suitable for conventional, high-solid, and solvent-free epoxy resin systems.
