BYK Additives presents innovative heat stabilizers for high-performance polyamides

Wesel, October 8, 2026 – The plastics industry faces a twofold challenge: While components must withstand increasingly high temperatures, at the same time they need to meet more stringent demands for durability, reliability, and functionality. Specifically in electromobility, electrical components, and technical industrial applications, conventional material concepts are constantly stretched to their limits.

With its new heat stabilizers BYK-MAX HS 4316 and BYK-MAX HS 4317, BYK Additives is expanding its portfolio with two high-performance additive solutions that were especially developed for the long-term thermal stabilization of polyamides. Both products allow plastics manufacturers and compounders to adjust their products precisely to the demands of modern applications, while simultaneously improving the long-term performance capacity of their compounds.

When heat becomes a challenge
Whether it is in plug-in connectors in electric vehicles, technical casings, engine compartment components, or heavily used industrial components, polyamides are indispensable materials for innumerable applications in today’s world. And yet constantly high temperatures can have an adverse effect on material properties and shorten the service life of components. This is precisely where the new BYK solutions come in. Both products protect polyamides against thermo-oxidative decline and help users ensure the long-term stability of material properties, even under demanding operating conditions. In the process, each of the new products follows a different technological concept, giving compounders and material developers a whole new range of different optimization potential.

BYK-MAX HS 4316: Organic stabilization for durable high-performance applications
BYK-MAX HS 4316 was developed for applications in which there is a focus on long-term thermal resilience and excellent material performance. The additive assists the manufacture of polyamide compounds with outstanding long-term stability, and it is suitable for both unfilled and filled systems.
For customers, this means greater creative freedom in developing durable components that will retain their mechanical properties reliably, even after long years of heavy-duty use. Typical areas of deployment range from automotive applications and industrial construction elements to technical consumer goods.

BYK-MAX HS 4317: Thermal stability meets electrical demands
With BYK-MAX HS 4317, BYK is presenting innovative inorganic heat stabilization that was especially developed for modern applications in which thermal and electrical demands are equally decisive. The product was created with the aim of combining the advantages of classic inorganic stabilizing systems with improved electrical neutrality. This is why BYK-MAX HS 4317 is particularly suited for applications in electrification, electromobility, and other fields in which high temperature resistance and electrical properties are both decisive factors for success.

The formulation is suited for both unfilled and mineral or fiber reinforced polyamides, and it assists users in meeting demanding long-term requirements reliably. According to the product information, a long-term heat ageing resistance of more than 3,000 hours at a temperature of 150 °C can be achieved in the case of fiber-reinforced polyamides.

World premiere at FAKUMA 2026
BYK-MAX HS 4316 and BYK-MAX HS 4317 will be celebrating their official trade fair premiere at FAKUMA 2026. Visitors to the BYK trade fair booth will be given the first-ever opportunity to make their acquaintance with the new heat stabilizers, and to discuss the applications, formulation strategies, and future demands on polyamide compounds with experts from BYK. Anyone interested can find further information on BYK’s trade fair presence in the official FAKUMA exhibitor profile at BYK at FAKUMA.
