Recycling of polymers is driven by social and regulatory demands. Although collection, sorting, and separation have improved, mixed and immiscible plastics remain a persistent technical barrier. Functionalized polymers act as compatibilizers that improve interfacial adhesion, promote fine dispersion, stabilize blend morphology, and help maintain usable material performance rather than accepting pure downcycling.
By addressing phase separation, viscosity mismatch, mechanical property loss, and fluctuating recyclate quality, compatibilizers support more consistent processing and enable recycled compounds with broader application potential.
In this WEBseminar, we will discuss key compatibilization mechanisms, typical blend scenarios, and practical guidelines for selecting and applying functionalized polymers in recycled polymer streams. Topics include reactive compatibilization, interfacial tension reduction, grafted polymers, coupling agents, morphology control, dispersion quality, and processing considerations relevant to mixed-polymer recyclates.
