Wachsadditive haben viele Anwendungsbereiche, in denen man mit ihnen zum Beispiel die Verarbeitbarkeit von Produkten steuern oder die Eigenschaften von Oberflächen verbessern kann. Wachse unterscheiden sich in natürlicher, halbsynthetischer und synthetischer Abstammung. In diesen drei Herkunftsgruppen kann man sehen, dass jede Wachsbasis ein eigenes Eigenschaftsprofil hat. Nach der chemischen Basis, dem Schmelzpunkt und der Polarität eines Wachses richten sich die grundlegenden Eigenschaften. Modifikationen und die spätere Herstellungsweise beeinflussen außerdem die Endeigenschaften.

BYK vertreibt Wachsadditive in verschiedenen Zubereitungen, wie wasserbasierte Emulsionen und Dispersionen, lösemittelbasierte Dispersionen und mikronisierte Wachse.

AQUACER comprises BYKs aqueous wax emulsions. Wax additives have many areas of application. They can be used, for example, to control the processability of products or to improve the properties of surfaces. Waxes can be of a natural, semisynthetic or synthetic origin. The fundamental properties are derived from the chemical basis, the melting point and the polarity of a wax. BYK offers three lines of wax additives with water as the liquid phase: the wax emulsions AQUACER, the wax dispersions AQUAMAT, and the primary dispersions HORDAMER. The particle size of AQUACER wax emulsions is below 1 µm and these products can therefore be used in high gloss systems without reducing gloss.

AQUAMAT comprises BYKs aqueous wax dispersions. Wax additives have many areas of application. They can be used, for example, to control the processability of products or to improve the properties of surfaces. Waxes can be of a natural, semisynthetic or synthetic origin. The fundamental properties are derived from the chemical basis, the melting point and the polarity of a wax. BYK offers three lines of wax additives with water as the liquid phase: the wax emulsions AQUACER, the wax dispersions AQUAMAT, and the primary dispersions HORDAMER. AQUAMAT wax dispersions are produced by forming larger particles in water. Particle size is generally above 1 μm which means that these additives will cause gloss reduction in many applications.

CERAFLOUR is the main brand for BYKs micronized wax additives and micronized wax-like polymers. Wax additives have many areas of application. They can be used, for example, to control the processability of products or to improve the properties of surfaces. Waxes can be of a natural, semisynthetic or synthetic origin. The fundamental properties are derived from the chemical basis, the melting point and the polarity of a wax. Modifications and the subsequent manufacturing methods also influence the end properties. Micronized wax additives are products in powder form with an average particle size between 4 μm and 15 μm. Special types for creating textured surfaces can have particle sizes up to 90 μm.
