As of August 1, 2024, BYK has appointed Hecckem Kimyevi Mad. İth.İhr.A.Ş as an authorized distributor for the paint additives business in Azerbaijan. Hecckem previously served as a successful and reliable distributor for BYK in Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. Heike Buskies has taken over the management of the Global Business Line Plastics Additives at BYK. She joined the additives experts BYK in October 2012 when she left Evonik and started as Sales Manager Plastics Additives for Greater Europe. In July 2021, she took over responsibility for the Regional Business Line Plastics Additives for Greater Europe.

BYK Netherlands realised a brand-new set of solar panels on the roof of its site in Denekamp. This will be the second location – besides Deventer - that creates energy through a sustainable source in the Netherlands. The warehouse roof is stacked with 444 solar panels which generate approximately 145.000 kWh of green electricity annually. And that is by no means all: further sustainability projects are being planned at all three Dutch BYK locations.

Coupling agents increase the performance of composite materials

The Finnish sustainability fund UB Forest Industry Green Growth Fund (UB FIGG) and the specialty chemicals group ALTANA are investing in the technology company NORDTREAT. The company specializes in the development and production of innovative, high-performance, and environmentally friendly flame retardants. NORDTREAT relies on bio-based raw materials, and its products comply with the latest fire protection regulations. The company’s NORFLAM® products are already being used successfully to protect more than 2,000 buildings and structures around the world. 

For the 28th time in a row, the BYK team, this year represented by Mauricio Cunha, received the coveted award from Paint & Pintura magazine in a festive ceremony. In addition to the tireless personal commitment of our local additive experts on site for decades, our customers were also convinced by our innovative strength and globally positioned production. We are grateful for the trust placed in us with this award and will continue to pave the way to a successful future for our customers worldwide with differentiated additive solutions.

As of July 1, Comindex S.A., BYK's long-standing distributor in Spain, will extend its distribution network for the additives business in the areas of paints, plastics and industrial applications to Portugal. This expansion will help to provide customers on the Iberian Peninsula with even faster and more comprehensive support.
