150 years of BYK= 150 years of focus on innovation: We start our anniversary year with a success story in terms of sustainability. Our BYK production site in Shanghai has been equipped with a solar plant covering around 2,000 square meters.

BYK-Chemie GmbH has been awarded gold status by EcoVadis, the world’s largest assessment platform for sustainability. This puts BYK-Chemie GmbH among the top 4 percent of companies in the industry rated by EcoVadis.

BYK-Chemie GmbH is now the third company within BYK to undergo an EcoVadis assessment. The two companies BYK Additives Ltd. in the UK and BYK Netherlands BV. also achieved gold status in the past.

Sustainability is an important aspect in the development of new products. In addition to the product’s direct properties and effects, questions regarding environmental impact, chemical basis, and energy consumption often play a significant role too.

This year's BYK Live Event is over and we are happy about so much international interest: More than 4200 viewers from over 95 countries were present! Classic PTFE-based wax additives possess special properties that other materials do not have – they offer outstanding scratch and abrasion resistance in a whole range of areas of application. For some time now, however, the use of PTFE has been viewed increasingly critically at a global level.

BYK, one of the world’s leading suppliers in the field of additives and measuring instruments, will raise its prices for additives by 25 percent (25%), effective from June 1, 2022, or as existing contracts permit. It is important to note that for many of our products the increase may differ substantially depending on the cost dynamics.

This step is necessary to maintain the high service and innovation level of BYK Additives to its customers in light of increasing costs including raw materials, energy, transportation, and packaging. As a long-term partner for its customers, BYK continues to heavily invest in sites, capabilities, and services to secure leading support globally.

BYK has launched a new additive portfolio for home care applications. The so-called PURABYK additives offer innovative solutions for detergents and cleaning agents as well as a wide range of additives for care purposes. Amongst other features, the BYK additives optimize the rheology configuration of cleaners and detergents, protect surfaces, regulate foam formation, support wetting and dispersing, and much more besides.

Power and purity are key customer demands in the world of care products, and BYK Additives is now serving them with a new product range.
