We are delighted that our BYK site in Tongling, China, achieved EcoVadis Gold certification on its first attempt. This places the site in the top five per cent of companies audited by EcoVadis. We are very proud of this achievement by our Tongling employees.

Another piece of good news comes from the Netherlands: Our three locations there have confirmed their gold ranking for the third time, following successes in 2019 and 2023.

In 2024, BYK in Widnes selected Halton Entertainment's Arts and Regional Theatre School (HEARTs) from a number of charities as the fundraising target for the year's planned charity events. HEARTs, a local theatre company that welcomes students from three years old to young adults, has an open-door policy to ensure everyone is treated equally. The organization, which feels like one big family, was suggested by one of BYK's longest serving employees who, along with the family, is actively involved in volunteering with HEARTs.

At the first Paint & Pintura Forum in Bogotá, Colombia, BYK was honored as the best additive supplier. The forum, organized by the trade magazine “Paint & Pintura”, took place at the end of November and brought together numerous experts and companies from the paint and coatings industry. The jury, consisting of technicians and purchasers from local companies, particularly appreciated BYK's close customer relations and excellent technical and commercial service.

BYK wins VCI special prize for digitalisation.

On 20 November, Anja Fisch, Natascha Sehrin and Jessica Datta received the VCI special award for digitalization in health promotion from Thomas Wessel, chairman of the management board of North Rhine-Westphalia Chemical Industry Association (VCI), in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. The reason for the award is the successful transformation of presence courses into digital health offers, which take into account the increasing mobile work and reach BYK colleagues all over Germany. This ensures that health and well-being will continue to play a central role at BYK in the future.

We are very pleased that our young colleague Phil Patrick Wahl has won this year's "Farbe und Lack Award". We owe this outstanding result to him and his topic of biocide- and VOC-free, non-dusting, flake-shaped polyurethane thickeners. Year after year, it is an extraordinary challenge to prevail against the strong competition of other authors. This year, the topic, the text and the author swung the pendulum in favor of BYK.
