This step is necessary to maintain the high service and innovation level of BYK Additives to its customers in light of increasing costs including raw materials, transportation, packaging, and energy. BYK-1789, the new solvent-free and silicone-containing BYK defoamer, was awarded the prestigious “Ringier Technology Innovation Award 2021” in the “Coatings Industry” category in China. The award ceremony has been held in Shanghai on May 12, 2021.

BYK-1789 is a 100% defoamer that has been specially developed for aqueous corrosion protection coatings. It is highly compatible despite its strong effect, supports substrate wetting, and is extremely effective in reducing microfoam and macrofoam. A particular advantage is the exceptionally good internal air release of the coating, even in fast-drying systems. The very good internal deaeration of the entire coating system is reflected, among other things, in improved corrosion protection values of the coating system.

BYK-329, a silicone-containing surface additive for both solvent-free and solvent-borne systems, is the new BYK product on the market that greatly reduces surface tension, especially in floor coatings and general industrial coatings, and promotes leveling and defoaming properties. In the defoamer line, BYK-092 is a new VOC-free, silicone-containing additive for aqueous paint systems, printing inks, and adhesives in the portfolio of this specialty chemicals manufacturer.

As first specialty chemicals manufacturer worldwide, BYK now has in its portfolio an additive with Germanischer Lloyd certification: BYK-C 8001.
