The Finnish sustainability fund UB Forest Industry Green Growth Fund (UB FIGG) and the specialty chemicals group ALTANA are investing in the technology company NORDTREAT. The company specializes in the development and production of innovative, high-performance, and environmentally friendly flame retardants. NORDTREAT relies on bio-based raw materials, and its products comply with the latest fire protection regulations. The company’s NORFLAM® products are already being used successfully to protect more than 2,000 buildings and structures around the world. 

For the 28th time in a row, the BYK team, this year represented by Mauricio Cunha, received the coveted award from Paint & Pintura magazine in a festive ceremony. As of July 1, Comindex S.A., BYK's long-standing distributor in Spain, will extend its distribution network for the additives business in the areas of paints, plastics and industrial applications to Portugal. From zero to silver: Congratulations to our BYK Additives team in Shanghai (China). BYK Additives Shanghai Co., Ltd. has achieved a silver rating in its first attempt at EcoVadis certification.

The specialty chemicals manufacturer BYK has brought Marcel Krohnen back on board after two and a half years as Head of its global Paint Additives business. At the beginning of the year, he took over from Dr. Stefan Mößmer, under whose leadership the sales of the Paint Additives business line doubled and who has now moved up to the BYK Management Board. “We are extremely delighted not only that, in the person of Marcel Krohnen, we have found a highly competent successor for this key position as Head of the Paint Additives business line, but also that he is someone who has strong roots in our company and who knows the market and, in particular, our customers, especially well,” said Dr. Stefan Mößmer, BYK Managing Director of Marketing & Commercial.

BYK Additives starts 2024 with a significant investment at the Deventer site in the Netherlands. On January 11, 2024, BYK Netherlands B.V. celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new factory in Deventer, the Netherlands. The new production facility will manufacture solvent based wax dispersions and replace the current facility with a state-of-the-art process installation which will meet current as well as future demands from our customers – of course also in line with current and future regulatory demands. BYK is investing a double-digit million euro amount in the plant.

The care applications section of the specialty chemicals expert BYK has expanded its portfolio. Besides its home care and industrial and institutional products, already familiar under the brand name PURABYK, BYK now also has a range of additives on offer as of January 1, 2024 for the personal care industry.

The Care Applications business of specialty chemicals expert BYK is expanding its portfolio. Alongside products for Home Care and I&I, which are already sold through the renowned PURABYK brand, BYK is due to launch its own range of additives for personal care and beauty cosmetics from January 2024. This product portfolio was previously marketed by the sister division ECKART. BYK offers innovative solutions for personal care, that control sensory properties, gloss, stabilization, emulsification and flow behavior, which significantly improve the properties of natural cosmetics, hair care, shampoos, face masks, antiperspirants, nail polish and creams.
